kairos
Kairos Prison Ministry International, Inc. (Kairos) is a lay-led, interdenominational Christian organization dedicated to sharing the transformative love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ with individuals impacted by incarceration. Our mission is to bring positive change to the lives of prisoners, their families, and those who work with them, fostering a supportive Christian community both inside and outside correctional institutions.
Our Programs:
Kairos Inside: This program unites inmates within correctional facilities for a 3½-day weekend retreat, aiming to build a nurturing Christian community among residents.
Kairos Outside: Designed to support female relatives and friends of incarcerated individuals, as well as women who were unable to attend Kairos Inside while in prison, this weekend retreat offers a safe space for sharing and healing.
Kairos Torch: Focusing on youthful offenders, Kairos Torch provides an initial weekend experience followed by ongoing mentoring, encouraging young men and women to make positive life choices.
Statement of Faith:
At Kairos, we uphold the following core beliefs:
The Bible is God's authoritative and inspired word, guiding our faith and lives.
Belief in the Holy Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The deity, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Salvation and eternal life are gifts from God through faith in Jesus Christ.
The love of Christ compels us to serve others, including providing for those in need and visiting those in prison.
To serve as a volunteer in the Kairos ministry, individuals are required to profess a personal faith in Jesus Christ and affirm the inerrancy of God's Word. This commitment ensures that our volunteers are united in faith and purpose as we minister to those affected by incarceration.
Kairos operates in prisons across 37 U.S. states and in 9 countries worldwide, including Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Our dedicated network of over 30,000 volunteers contributes approximately 3 million service hours annually, embodying Christ's love and hope to those we serve.
At Living Water Church, we actively serve in two local correctional facilities: Greene Correctional Facility (a medium-security institution) and Coxsackie Correctional Facility (a maximum-security institution).
